A driving day is when we have the trailer on and we are driving to another place to stay the night. Normally driving days are very long. We have done 27 driving days so far. Obviously we have done more driving, like on day trips, which is when we go sightseeing for the day but come back to the same campsite. We have done over 14 000 kilometres.
We play one of dad's daggy songs every time we are in the car and it is a driving day. I sit behind dad who always drives ( Mum drove once out of the QANTAS Museum because dad was taking a movie! ). Harvey sits in the middle and Milla sits behind mum. We have a packet of mints for us in the car. Milla doesn't like them so she has her own packet of mentos. I just wrote 'dad tries to sneak mints' and he just tried to sneak one! We always know when he does though because he makes a scrunching noise as he gets it out.
The roof of the car is falling down above my head like a canopy! Mum thinks I will not be able to see anything apart from material by the time we get home. We have two car fresheners in the front of the car and they are blue and in the shape of Christmas trees. This is to hide the car odour not for Christmas decoration. Dad named the car Terry as it is a territory. He says our car is a science experiment.
Terry has done long hot days through the central desert, negotiated the endless corners of the Great Ocean road and pulled our trailer over the snowy mountains. Luckily we only have short trips up the east coast back to Brisbane.
You make long driving days sound fun Maisie. I'm glad the peppermint lollies are helping to pass the time. I also hope the roof above your head lasts the distance. X Nannie
ReplyDeleteHi Maisie
ReplyDeletePop's estimate of how many kilometres you would do on your trip I have now been doubled. What a trip to look back on Maisie. Love Pop.
Can you describe a 'car odour'?
ReplyDeleteIt stinks of banana.
