My first impressions of Sydney are that Sydney is a very big city, geographically quite beautiful with the harbour, bays, coves, cliffs and beaches and it is full of brick apartment buildings and terraced houses.
We have walked and walked exploring Sydney til our legs hurt and I have enjoyed working out the maze of trains and ferrys. Sydney has turned on it's very best weather just for us. Sunny and 28 degrees.
We are staying at Lane Cove National Park. The campground is very leafy and despite being full of families and backpackers, we have our own little patch of green. This is our last campground and it is nice to finish with a good one.
The nearest train station, North Ryde, is a 1km walk away. We have been catching the train in and out of the city. It is only 6 stops. On the first day, we got stuck behind a broken down train and had to sit in a hot train for 20 minutes. It was not a good start. The trains have 3 levels. It is so cool. You walk in on the middle level, then there is an upper and a lower level.
We buy a daily ticket and have to insert it into the barrier as you walk through. Mum says it reminds her of the tube in London.
As I mentioned, we have walked and walked. The famous Victoria Arcade was well worth a look. I have never seen so many gorgeous shops. We even saw the vintage clock strike eleven.
We sat and had lunch in the Royal Botanic Gardens with an amazing view of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House. Wow, I had to pinch myself.
There was a massive cruise ship parked in circular quay and we saw the ferrys buzzing in and around like busy bees. We didn't get to go inside the Opera House as they were setting up for New Years Eve but we walked around it.
We have also walked around the old part of Sydney, called the Rocks. I have stood on the first road built in Australia.
I am really enjoying Sydney, but I am not sure whether I would like to live here. I haven't put it down on my list just yet, but I probably will. I may just add a few conditions, like only if I earn a million dollars or more a year.
