Harvey- Questacon in Canberra

We arrived at 9:00 it's opening time.  We got our stamps and payed and then started the fun.
We had a look round and asked a man where the 6 meter slide was.  We found it and headed in.
When we got there I was speechles for a wile.  It was a 6 meter free drop slide.
That means you hang on to a monkey bar then let go and drop through the air until the slide meets you and you land on the ground. Mum said she would go 1st but she tried to get out of it.  But she couldn't trick me, so mum went first.  I was next.
It was scary.  But I did it twice.  Maisie did too.
Milla was too scard so my little sister didn't go on.  Dad went on once.  After that we were really pumped. I learnt about adrenalin.  My heart rate was 120.
I also lernt why it is so hot in Australia in summer because we are pointing straight at the sun.  And in England in summer they don't face straight to the sun.
I also lernt that it takes a lot of hard work to boil water and that it is easier to push water than to suck it.
I played a robot in ice hockey and lost.  Everyone lost.
We saw a show about the moon and I got a few questions right.  After lunch we saw the countdown to a lightning strike.  Suddenly the room was filled with a buzzing sound and we saw a flash of purple in the shape of lots of zig zags.  It was interesting to watch.
We had a competishon who could score the most points in the game where you have to press the button when it lights up.  Maisie, Dad and I all tied on 24.

We had a big day but it was fun and we lernt lots.

Milla- Parliament House

At Parliment Hoes I sor the picher that was a forist with a wite cocatoo in the midl.
It was vere big.
There was a flag on the top of Parliment hose.  There was grase on the roof too.
My family and I went in old Parliment hose.  In it Maisie, Harvey and I drest up lik a king and quen.
I went in a green room and a red room.

I sat in the speecers cher and drest up like one. It was vere hi.
I held the thing (mace). It was vere hevy.

Maisie-The Australian War Memorial

I loved my day at the War Memorial in Canberra. We got to lay a poppy on the wall of remembrance.
I put mine beside a soldier with the surname Palmer. We found lots of 'Palmers' as it is a popular last name.
We also explored the museum and saw lots of artifacts from WW1 and WW2 including a boat that landed at Gallipoli. You could even see the bullet holes in it. We went on a tour and the man had a very quiet voice and it was difficult to hear him. We saw the tomb of the unknown soldier and the beautiful mosaic dome roof and walls.
There was a kids area where we got to dress up in army uniforms and fly helicopters, go in submarines and go in trenches. It felt very real.

I wanted to buy something in the gift shop but I didn't have enough money because I have been buying so many patches and I will do another blog entry about my patch addiction. When you walk out you look straight down and see Parliament house and Old Parliament house.
We also went to Parliament house and saw the House of Representitives and the Senate. I found out that if you opened up all the doors from the front to the back, the prime minister could see the War Memorial from his desk!  Everything in Canberra lines up perfectly.

Maisie - An aMAZEing Day

I raced off into the Wandiligong Maze.  I stopped.  Left or right?  I decided left and set off down the narrow passage way.
It was raining very lightly and I felt like an explorer, all alone in an unknown territory, stomping through mud puddles, dead leaves and twigs.  The hedges on both sides were 4m high and only a little bit of sunlight peered through.  I got to a wooden door.
I stopped again, then decided to go through the door to see where it would take me.  The challenge was to find the exit, obviously, but also to find 2 towers (stairs leading up to a platform) and 2 rose bushes (one pink, one white).  I went round in circles, not bumping into anyone and kept finding dead ends.  I knew my family was in there somewhere, but I felt alone and a bit scared.  Every now and then I heard some thunder in the distance which added to the scariness.  Luckily I met up with Milla and Harvey who were also both disorientated.  We had no idea where mum and dad were.  Together we managed to find one tower, success at last.  We wandered around looking for mum and dad and eventually found them.  They were having even more fun than us!  Eventually we managed to find the towers and the rose bushes but still not the exit.  We weren't done yet!

We all agreed that this was the best hide and seek place ever.  Particularly, as we were the only ones in the maze.  Dad counted first and we all hid.  Harvey and I stuck together and kept moving around.  We went past mum a few times.  She was hiding by the exit.  We kept stopping and listening for dad to see if he was close.  The game went on for a long while.  I was just about to yell out "I'm scared! Come and find us at the rose bush platform", when Dad and the others found us.  Together we found the exit and went home.  If you're ever in Wandiligong, make sure you visit the maze.  It is aMAZEing!

Milla- A Trip to the Farm

My family and I went to a imyou and arther animals park.
Thar were goats.  Baby goats are cood kids. There were chicins but most of all Santa left his radiss there!
I boot sum food with my muny.  I got to feed all of tham but not the chicins.

Harvey - Day at the Tour

Part 1-
Today we watched the Tour of Bright go past and up the hill. When the men's over 60 age group went past I thort of Pop when a cyclest waved.  We waved back.
A few of the girls got punchers and were a long way behind.  We talked to a marshel called Bob and he was very friendly.  The riders have to be very fit because yesterday they did time triels.  (See part 2). Today they did a race and tomorro they will race up Mount Hothem.

Part 2- Pedal, pedal, pedal.
The green lite signals and the rider speeds down the ramp at full speed.  Tucht down below the wind, pedaling fast, the rider zooms out of sight from the start.  He wears a spishal wind tunnel helmot.
He keeps going til he gets to the first round about and heads up a hill to the left.  Then he races down the hill to the finel strate.  His legs are hurting.  His face is sweting and the wind is in his face.  Everything is bad but he keeps going.  He pedals as fast as he can and then he is finished.  He feels good.  He feels great and that was his day.
